Categories Clarified

The clock is ticking… only 11 more days until the Limerick Lifelong Learning Festival launches! Each year, we take immense pride and satisfaction when we can deliver a diverse and varied festival line-up that builds on our earlier offerings and this year’s is no different. As part of our build up we have put together a snapshot of some of the events from each category that we at Learning Limerick are particularly looking forward to.

Community Event Category

Communities are the lifeblood of the festival. Learning is better when we all learn together, said someone famous once (probably!), and what better way to test this statement than to attend an event from the Community Category that is taking place throughout the week. Fancy some exercise from the comfort of your own chair, then check out the Extend Exercise/Mindfulness/Meditation Classes for Over 55’s on Monday 27th, or perhaps you are curious to learn more about sexuality and disability, then sign-up for “AccesSEX!ibility” Sexuality and Disability – A Discussion on Tuesday 28th. Would you like to see a community in action? Well then, the West Limerick Ability Network “Talk about the Wall” on Thursday 30th is the event for you.

Individual Event Category

If you are seeking to enhance your own professional and personal development, communication skills, or you would like to learn more about what educational pathways are available to you, then an event from the Individual Category is right up your street. Ever wondered what is beyond the ‘Final Frontier?’ Wonder no more with Setting Up and Using your Telescope: A Practical Workshop on Tuesday 28th. Need to brush up on your Public Speaking skills, “Why Improve Your Public Speaking and What’s Involved” takes place on Thursday 30th and maybe just what you are looking for. Choc-a-bloc with language tasters, open days, guided tours and information sessions to mention but a few, Individual events offer the most diverse selection of activities for you to choose from.

Work and Enterprise Category

Perhaps it is time to take your career in a new direction, or maybe you would like to brush up or add to existing skillset? Events from the Work and Enterprise Category will meet your needs. Thinking of turning your passion into a business or would you like to be your own boss? Sign up for an online webinar on Turning your Hobby into a Business on Thursday 30th to find out more. Improve your transferable skills and boost your LinkedIn profile with Future Proofing Employability Skills on Friday 31st, and How to Use LinkedIn for Job Hunting on Monday 27th. Can’t find the time to attend an event? Then you need Time Management for Busy People on Tuesday 28th.

Family and Universal Categories

The Family and Universal Categories host events from across a wide range of fun, interactive and engaging activities which are generally suitable for all. Bring the kids and get your groove on with a Groovy Hands Drum Workshop on Tuesday 28th and then learn how to keep them safe online with an Online Safety for Kids event which takes place on Thursday 30th. Find your inner zen with a relaxing Tai Chi session on Monday 27th or experience new flavours and authentic cuisine from around the world with an International Food Day on Tuesday 28th.

We have only scratched the surface with the aforementioned events, and we believe that this year’s line-up really has something for everyone to choose from. Keep an eye on all of our Social Media channels for the latest festival news and updates and check out www.limerick.ie/lovelearning for the complete Festival Event line-up. So, are you ready to ‘Come Learn With Me in 2023?’
